ABOUT VILLAGE BEADS

As Wellington’s only specialised bead store, we stock a whole range of jewellery components and findings, and of course have hundreds and thousands of beads in a whole range of colours, sizes, and shapes!

We provide classes for both adults and kids who want to meet other like minded creators, or need a bit more structure and guidance with their beading. As well as this, we take walk-ins if you just want to come in and have a play with designs, need jewellery to match a special outfit, or want to re-vamp old jewellery in to something fresh! Bookings are highly recommended in advance, and are required for birthday parties. 

If craft is not your thing and something needs fixing, we also have an excellent repair service available.

As well as beads and beading, we have a plethora of jewellery for sale, most of which is handmade onsite! We have all the tools and materials for jewellery making you'll need, as well as a great selection of giftware, bags and scarves.

If you thought that was it, Village Beads also does a roaring trade in homemade fudge, made right here on the premises!

Meet the Team

  • JASMINE - MANAGER

    Jasmine began her time here in 2021 while juggling studying & her own business, Sweet Like Honey Co! Jasmine has taken over management from Debbie, and runs the day to day operations of the store, events, and our social media pages and emails.

  • MIAH - ASSISTANT MANAGER

    Miah started working at Village Beads in 2021 while studying towards her degree in Music! She has since released her own music, have a listen here, and you might hear it playing in store too!

  • LOUISA - ASSISTANT MANAGER

    Louisa is a creative bundle of joy, and an expert problem solver! She has started up her own porcelain charm business, Votive Jewels!

  • SAM - CREATIVE STRATEGIST

    Sam has worked at Village Beads for close to 10 years now, and also has her own ceramics business, Snowfox Ceramics!

  • BETH

    Beth began her time here at the start of 2023, and is always rocking her own super cool earring creations!

  • NATASHA

    Natasha is perfect at little, fiddly jobs, and has just opened her own baking business - Little Bakes by Tash!

  • CHARLOTTE

    Charlotte is our newest team member and our weekend superstar! Her specialty is making beaded critter creations!

  • DEBBIE - FOUNDER

    Our delightful founder Debbie has been in the bead business for over 20 years, and has just set up her Bead Studio running out of her new home in Napier South!

We are fortunate to have many different helpers too!

Ru is our expert pounamu braider, fudge maker, and specialises in the trickiest little repair jobs, Lynne does all of our pearl reknottings, and Chloe comes and help out when we are super busy! Our fabulous window displays are designed and brought to life by the amazing Julie- send her an email for more information!
