Soft Wax Workshop for Silver Casting - The Creative Abditory (Ages 18+)

$230.00

Wednesday 16th September, 5:30pm - 8pm

Discover the meditative art of jewellers' soft wax, a technique used by makers for centuries to bring a design to life before it turns into metal. You'll learn to shape, smooth, and refine your own soft wax pieces, working at your pace in a slow, hands-on process. This is less about tools and more about touch, patience, and intention.

There's a lovely ancient quality to working this way, as wax has been used to shape jewellery for thousands of years, and part of the magic is letting your piece unfold as you go, rather than forcing it into a plan. No prior experience necessary, just bring your crafty selves and a willingness to get your hands a little messy.

Details:

  • 2.5 hour workshop

  • $230 per person, which includes:

    • Materials of up to 12 grams of sterling silver - approximately enough for 3 items like charms, earrings, or small pendants, or 1 larger project such as a chunky ring or pendant. Option to add on more silver at $10 a gram.

      • Option to cast your pieces in 9ct or 18ct gold (an additional cost, quoted on the day)

    • Guidance on shaping rings, pendants, or small charms in wax, ready for casting

    • Professionally finished by hand

    • Some small treats while you craft away

    • Resources/references to take home.

Once your wax pieces are complete, they're sent away to be cast in precious metal, then cleaned up and finished by hand before they come back to you. You'll receive your finished pieces within approximately 3 weeks, ready for collection from Village Beads or sent by post.

Workshop held at Village Beads - 129 Jackson Street, Petone
